Who is AVID?

Any student may apply for the AVID program; however, AVID is designed for students who have the individual drive to do what is necessary to be prepared for a four-year university upon graduation. Students must be on track to graduate under the Recommended High School Plan and have at least a "C" average. The AVID program recruits students who have an excellent disciplinary record and few or no absences. Most students enter AVID in junior high or at the beginning of their 9th grade year. 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students at campuses with AVID programs who fall within the parameters for meeting AVID entry requirements receive invitations to attend a Family Information Night each spring. Interested students may pick up an application packet from their counselorsí office in the spring. All applicants must complete an application and be interviewed by an AVID Site Team member prior to being accepted into the program.
